West Indies strengthened their grip on the second and final Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet on Sunday, building a formidable lead beyond 300 runs as Kavem Hodge scored a brilliant century on day four.
Resuming 23 runs behind Bangladesh in their second innings, the visitors forged an assured start through openers Brandon King and Joshua Da Silva, who put together an 85-run partnership.
King played fluently to score 61 runs from 84 balls, striking 11 boundaries including a six, while Da Silva contributed 36 before falling lbw to Taijul Islam.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz eventually removed King, caught at slip by Najmul Hossain Shanto, bringing Hodge and debutant Kevin Wickham together at the crease.
Hodge and Wickham shared a dominant 165-run partnership through the second session, successfully negotiating variable bounce and turn to frustrate the Bangladesh bowling attack.
Wickham compiled a composed 78 on his Test debut, becoming the first West Indies batter in 48 years to register two half-centuries in a maiden Test appearance.
Hodge maintained his aggressive momentum to reach his third Test century, steering the innings alongside Amir Jangoo before bad light forced an early conclusion to the day's play.
Taijul remained the most effective bowler for the hosts, but breakthroughs proved difficult to come by as the tourists consolidated their position of absolute dominance.
West Indies now stand within reach of a series sweep heading into the final day, holding an unassailable advantage after winning the opening match of the series.
Bangladesh face a daunting task on day five to salvage a result and keep their qualification hopes alive for the Ultimate Test at The Oval in 2027.
