West Indies women name Andre Coley interim head coach for Pakistan series

Cricket West Indies confirms the interim appointment ahead of the upcoming tour following Shane Deitz's departure.

the crictracker.com report of this news: West Indies women name Andre Coley interim head coach for Pakistan series

Cricket West Indies on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Andre Coley as the interim head coach of the West Indies women's cricket team for their upcoming series against Pakistan. Coley steps into the role following the departure of Shane Deitz, who held the position for the past three years.

Coley will work alongside the existing support staff as the squad prepares for the series in Pakistan. The incoming coach brings substantial international experience to the role, having previously served as head coach for the West Indies men's under-19 team at the 2010 World Cup, where his side finished in third place.

Reflecting on his tenure, outgoing coach Deitz highlighted the team's achievements during his three years at the helm. Under his guidance, the West Indies reached consecutive semi-finals at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in 2024 and 2026.

"I look back on a successful three years, and I want to thank the players, the staff, and Cricket West Indies for their support," Deitz said. He concluded by offering his best wishes to the squad for their future competitions.

The West Indies women's team enters this transition period following a strong run of form in bilateral limited-overs fixtures. Their recent assignments included a 2-1 victory in an ODI series and a dominant 3-0 sweep in a T20I series against Zimbabwe.

The upcoming series against Pakistan carries added significance for the touring side as they integrate new leadership under Coley. The matches will test the depth of the West Indies squad in subcontinental conditions as they build toward future global tournaments.
