Pakistan recorded their first victory at the FIFA Under-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan following a commanding performance.

Kaleemullah scores four as Pakistan thrash Tonga 6-1

Pakistan secured a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Tonga at the FIFA Under-15 World Cup and Festival 2026 currently taking place in Azerbaijan. Forward Kaleemullah delivered an outstanding individual performance by scoring four goals to lead the Shaheens to their maiden win of the tournament.

The match began with an early setback for the national side when Tonga were awarded a penalty in the sixth minute and successfully converted it. However, Pakistan responded immediately and showed great character to overturn the deficit within the opening stages of the contest.

Kaleemullah leveled the score just one minute after the penalty by converting a spot-kick for Pakistan in the seventh minute. The forward then fired his side ahead in the 13th minute by heading home cleanly from a cross delivered from the right flank.

Maintaining sustained attacking pressure throughout the first half, Pakistan continued to dominate possession against their opponents. Kaleemullah completed his hat-trick right before the interval by converting another penalty kick during the first-half stoppage time.

Following the interval, Pakistan extended their advantage further as Kaleemullah capitalized on a left-sided kick-in to head home at the far post. This fourth personal goal of the match cemented the team's control over the fixture.

The scoring did not stop there as teammate Maqbool added to the tally with a powerful long-range strike that beat the goalkeeper. Mustafa then completed the emphatic 6-1 scoreline with a composed finish following a well-executed attack down the left side.

The relentless movement and sharp finishing from the young Pakistani players overwhelmed the Tongan defense as the match progressed. This victory marked a significant milestone for the squad after recovering from their early defensive lapse.

Pakistan Football Federation President Syed Mohsen Gilani was present at the venue to witness the historic encounter. He had encouraged the young players before kick-off and congratulated the entire squad after the final whistle.

Gilani praised the players for becoming the first Pakistani football team to record a victory on the global FIFA World Cup stage. He also commended the coaching staff and team management for preparing the youngsters adequately for international competition.

Highlighting the value of facing opponents from diverse geographical regions, the PFF president expressed optimism about the future. He noted that the tournament would provide essential international exposure for young Pakistani footballers to develop their professional careers.

The FIFA Under-15 World Cup and Festival serves as an international platform designed to nurture youth talent from across the globe. Participating in such events allows developing nations to benchmark their junior structures against international standards.

Pakistan's participation in the Azerbaijan tournament highlights ongoing efforts by national sports administrators to invest in grassroots football development. Providing competitive fixtures against varied international opponents is viewed as a crucial step for long-term progress.

The Shaheens will look to build upon this morale-boosting victory as the tournament continues over the coming days. Team management will hope the comprehensive win instills confidence in the squad for their upcoming fixtures in the competition.

The comprehensive success demonstrates the growing potential within Pakistan's youth football ranks under the current administrative setup. Observers note that such developmental milestones are essential for building a stronger foundation for the senior national teams in future years.

As the tournament progresses in Azerbaijan, the young Pakistani squad aims to maintain their momentum following this resounding triumph. The players and coaching staff remain focused on their remaining matches in the international festival.
