Paris Saint-Germain crush Villarreal 6-0 as Fabián Ruiz scores twice in Champions League

Paris Saint-Germain produced a commanding performance to defeat Villarreal 6-0 in the UEFA Champions League league phase, maintaining their perfect start in the competition. The French champions overwhelmed their hosts with an explosive display of attacking football at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Fabián Ruiz netted twice during the encounter, while João Neves, Désiré Doué, Senny Mayulu and substitute David Boly also got on the scoresheet. Luis Enrique's side moved to a maximum of 12 points from four matches to sit comfortably at the top of the early standings.

The visitors seized control during a remarkable opening spell that effectively settled the contest before the 20-minute mark. Neves opened the scoring on nine minutes by converting from close range following a corner after an initial effort was blocked.

Doué doubled the advantage three minutes later by finishing clinically into the bottom corner after Maghnes Akliouche capitalised on a defensive error. Mayulu added a third moments later with a crisp volley from a loose ball inside the penalty area.

Ruiz completed a stunning four-goal burst in the 17th minute by rounding off a well-constructed team move. The Spanish midfielder added his second and PSG's fifth shortly after the interval, sweeping a low shot past goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi following a precise pass over the defence from Vitinha.

Seventeen-year-old substitute Boly capped his Champions League debut in the 78th minute by completing the scoring from the right side of the penalty area after receiving a pass from Neves. Goalkeeper Matvei Safonov enjoyed a largely untroubled evening as the French side dominated possession.

Villarreal struggled to generate sustained momentum against a high-intensity visiting press, managing only limited attempts through Georges Mikautadze and Alberto Moleiro. The defeat leaves the Spanish club with three points from their opening four fixtures in the league phase.

PSG return to domestic action in Ligue 1 against Troyes before hosting AS Roma in their next European fixture, while Villarreal turn their attention to a domestic La Liga encounter against Getafe.
