Djokovic meets Hurkacz in Shanghai after record seventh Beijing title

Novak Djokovic starts his Rolex Shanghai Masters campaign against 2023 champion Hubert Hurkacz after winning the Beijing title last week. It was his 102nd tour-level title, his first of the season and a record seventh in Beijing, and he beat Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals.

Djokovic called the week phenomenal and said it was "the best week of this year, no doubt". He has won Shanghai a record four times.

Hurkacz set up the match by hitting 19 aces in a 6-3, 7-6(4) win over James Duckworth. Djokovic is ninth in the Race to Turin, the last qualifying place for the Nitto ATP Finals now that Jannik Sinner has ended his season with a knee injury.
