Raphael Lavoie scored his first career NHL goal and Adin Hill made 25 saves as Vegas defeated Ottawa.

Golden Knights Beat Senators 4-1 to Snap Three-Game Skid

The Vegas Golden Knights halted a frustrating three-game losing skid by securing a hard-fought 4-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday night. Despite being outplayed for significant stretches of the match, the hosts relied on depth scoring and resilient goaltending to overcome their opponents.

Entering the contest on the back of three consecutive defeats, the franchise required a major turning point to alter their early-season momentum. That spark arrived unexpectedly from their own crease when starting goaltender Adin Hill intervened to halt a dangerous Ottawa counter-attack.

Hill left his net to play the puck and prevent a potential shorthanded breakaway, physically flattening Senators forward Ridly Greig in the process. The bold defensive maneuver instantly ignited the home bench and energized the crowd inside the arena.

Just twelve seconds after the goaltender's crunching play, Braeden Bowman broke the deadlock by scoring on the power play. Head coach Ryan Craig praised the incident post-game, noting that the physical stop provided the necessary emotional boost for his side.

The first period saw the Golden Knights register the opening two shots before the visitors gradually tilted the ice. Ottawa dominated the run of play during the middle frame, outshooting the hosts by a wide margin as Vegas struggled to establish sustained offensive pressure.

Ottawa eventually capitalized on their territorial advantage early in the third period, equalizing just 34 seconds after the intermission with their own power-play strike. A tying goal so early in the final frame threatened to deflate the struggling hosts.

Instead of folding, the Golden Knights leaned on their established identity of rolling four lines and trusting their overall roster depth. That tactical patience paid dividends when the fourth unit combined to manufacture a crucial go-ahead goal eight minutes into the period.

The decisive sequence originated deep in the defensive zone when Marc Gatcomb delivered a heavy check on Senators forward Andre Burakovsky. The resulting turnover allowed Raphael Lavoie to collect the puck and drive smoothly through the center of the ice.

Lavoie initiated a neat passing sequence by dropping the puck for Nic Dowd, who quickly slapped it ahead toward Ville Heinola. Although Jonas Johansson stopped Heinola's initial wrist shot, Dowd crashed the net effectively to keep the play alive.

The loose puck fell perfectly for Lavoie, who slammed it home from close range to put the hosts ahead for good. The milestone moment marked Lavoie's first career goal in the National Hockey League and triggered jubilant celebrations on the ice.

The sequence carried additional statistical significance for the franchise, handing Nic Dowd his landmark 200th career NHL point. It also recorded Ville Heinola's very first point since joining the Vegas Golden Knights uniform setup.

Lavoie admitted after the final buzzer that his evening had taken an entirely unforeseen turn. The forward was not originally slated to feature in the matchday lineup during the team's morning preparations at the rink.

His sudden inclusion arose following a late roster shuffle triggered by an unexpected injury to starting goaltender Carter Hart. Hart departed the morning skate early with a lower-body injury after executing a butterfly save during a routine drill.

The injury forced the organization to recall a replacement goaltender from their American Hockey League affiliate in Henderson. To remain cap compliant for the fixture, management had to send Jonas Røndbjerg down, opening a surprise vacancy for Lavoie.

With Hart ruled out, Adin Hill stepped into the starting assignment and delivered an outstanding display between the pipes. Hill turned aside 24 of 25 shots faced, finishing the evening with 25 total saves to anchor the team's defensive structure.

Vegas eventually sealed the two competition points during the dying stages of the contest through two empty-net conversions. William Karlsson and Jack Eichel both found the target from distance to stretch the final margin to three goals.

The victory provides a welcome psychological lift for the roster following their difficult run of results over the previous week. The coaching staff will hope to use this gritty performance as a solid foundation for upcoming fixtures in the schedule.
