Gen.G sweep LYON to reach Worlds 2026 semi-finals

The LCK top seed secured a dominant victory in Texas to eliminate North America's final representative and set up a clash with Invictus Gaming.

Allen, Texas: Gen.G sweep LYON to reach Worlds 2026 semi-finals

Gen.G advanced to the semi-finals of the League of Legends World Championship 2026 after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over LYON in Allen, Texas, on Wednesday. The result concludes the tournament run for the last remaining North American side.

The LCK top seed maintained control throughout the series, opting to play from the blue side in all three games. The victory ensures Gen.G a top-four finish, maintaining their consistent presence in the latter stages of the global competition.

For LYON, the quarter-final exit represents their strongest performance in the tournament to date. Having never previously placed higher than 17th in four prior appearances, the organisation secures a joint fifth to eighth place finish this year.

Gen.G will now face Invictus Gaming in the semi-finals on Saturday at 16:00 Central Time. Invictus Gaming earned their place in the final four after defeating Top Esports 3-1 in the opening quarter-final match earlier this week.

The tournament features a total prize pool of US$5,000,000. The eventual champions are set to receive US$1,000,000, while the runners-up will take home US$800,000. All teams reaching the semi-finals are guaranteed a significant share of the purse.

The Grand Final is scheduled to take place on 14 November. Fans in the United Kingdom will have the opportunity to view the broadcast at the British Arena in Sunderland, which is hosting its first official esports watch party.
