Caleb Williams and Jeffery Simmons lead Bears past Seahawks 34-17

Chicago secure a dominant victory on the road as D'Andre Swift scores three touchdowns.

Caleb Williams and Jeffery Simmons lead Bears past Seahawks 34-17

Caleb Williams delivered an efficient performance and new arrival Jeffery Simmons made an immediate defensive impact as the Chicago Bears defeated the Seattle Seahawks 34-17 on Monday night. The victory improved Chicago's record to 6-2 as they controlled the contest at Lumen Field.

Williams completed 71 percent of his passes for 247 yards without committing a turnover or taking more than a single sack against one of the league's toughest defenses. His composed display provided the foundation for a dominant offensive and defensive display from the visitors.

D'Andre Swift capitalized on the offensive momentum by punching in three short touchdown runs during the encounter. Swift carried the ball 27 times for a game-high 69 yards to anchor Chicago's ground game.

Simmons, acquired last week from Tennessee in a high-profile trade involving two first-round draft picks, wasted no time establishing his presence on the defensive line. He recorded a sack on the opening drive, finished with six tackles, added another tackle for loss, and contributed a pass defended.

The formidable defensive effort spearheaded by Simmons limited Seattle to just 252 total yards. The hosts managed only one successful conversion on 11 third-down attempts throughout the match.

For the Seahawks, quarterback Sam Darnold completed 17 of 34 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns. However, his fourth-quarter interception proved costly, setting up Swift's final touchdown that effectively sealed the outcome.

The defending champions suffered their third loss in four games, dropping their record to 4-4 and losing ground in the NFC playoff race. The defeat also snapped a 30-game regular-season and playoff streak for Seattle of not losing by a margin greater than four points.

Despite trading for three-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson last week and welcoming back running backs Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price from injuries, Seattle struggled to establish an effective running game, finishing with just 81 yards on the ground.

Chicago opened the scoring with a lengthy 17-play drive capped by Williams throwing a one-yard touchdown pass to Luther Burden III. The Bears added two field goals in the first half to establish control.

Seattle responded just before halftime when Darnold connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a 43-yard touchdown pass with 30 seconds remaining in the second quarter. The score narrowed the deficit heading into the interval.

The Seahawks showed signs of a comeback in the final quarter after Jason Myers had a 33-yard field goal blocked early on. DeMarcus Lawrence subsequently forced a fumble by Colston Loveland, allowing Darnold to throw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp and convert a two-point attempt to bring Seattle within three points at 20-17.

Chicago quickly extinguished any hopes of a home rally by responding with another methodical touchdown drive. Swift's third touchdown plunge, enabled by Darnold's late interception, extended the margin to 34-17 with 4:41 remaining on the clock.

Both Loveland and Burden were heavily involved in the passing attack, securing seven receptions apiece to support Williams's efficient aerial distribution. The loss marked a rare home setback on Monday Night Football for Seattle, who had entered the fixture boasting the NFL's best winning percentage in the prime-time slot.
