Islamabad Police issue traffic advisory for Pakistan-Sri Lanka Test series

Authorities have warned of potential road diversions and congestion in the capital as teams prepare for the upcoming two-match Test series.

Islamabad Police issue traffic advisory for Pakistan-Sri Lanka Test series

Islamabad Police have released a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of the arrival and movement of the Pakistan and Sri Lanka cricket squads. The measures are intended to manage security and logistics for the upcoming two-match Test series.

The first Test is scheduled to be held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 9 to 13, followed by the second match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore between November 17 and 21.

According to an Islamabad Police spokesperson, significant diversions are expected along the Srinagar Highway, specifically between Serena Chowk and Ninth Avenue. Motorists are advised to plan for an additional 20 to 25 minutes of travel time during the series.

Commuters travelling toward Zero Point and Faizabad are encouraged to use Faisal Avenue, while those heading to Ninth Avenue should utilize Service Road East. Alternative routes such as Suhrawardy Road and service roads in sectors G-8 and G-9 have also been suggested.

For those travelling from Koral towards Islamabad, authorities have directed traffic to use Old Airport Road, Rawal Road, Murree Road, IJP Road, and Faqir Eppi Road. Lehtrar Road and Park Road remain available if closures occur on the Expressway or Club Road.

Pakistan players have already commenced their training sessions at the Islamabad Club as they finalise preparations for the opening encounter. Islamabad Traffic Police personnel will be stationed at key locations to assist the public throughout the period.
