Imam-ul-Haq hits unbeaten double century in President’s Trophy

Imam-ul-Haq delivered a commanding performance on the third day of the seventh-round President’s Trophy Grade-I fixture, striking an unbeaten double century for Oil and Gas Development Company Limited against Ghani Glass at Lahore's LCCA Ground.

The experienced opening batter resumed his innings on Wednesday morning having already established a solid foundation with 118 runs overnight. He continued to build his knock with immense concentration, eventually reaching 200 not out before the declaration.

His magnificent double hundred featured 19 boundaries and two towering sixes, anchoring the OGDCL batting effort. The anchor knock allowed the team to post a formidable total and assert their authority over the contest.

Support for Imam came from Saad Khan, who chipped in with a valuable 88 runs, while Ali Zaryab contributed 42 runs to the total. Their partnerships ensured that OGDCL capitalized fully on batting-friendly conditions.

Facing a disciplined spell of bowling from Ghani Glass, OGDCL eventually declared their first innings closed at 410 for the loss of nine wickets. This total granted them a substantial first-innings lead of 178 runs.

Ubaid Shah spearheaded the bowling attack for Ghani Glass with sustained effort, finishing his demanding spell with impressive figures of five wickets for 131 runs. Despite his success, the opposition batsmen remained largely untroubled during the major partnerships.

In their second turn at the crease, Ghani Glass reached 82 for three by stumps, still trailing by 96 runs. Hashim Ibrahim and Sharjeel Khan both contributed identical scores of 34 runs to steady the innings before the close of play.

At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited advanced to 87 for four in pursuit of a target of 191 runs against Khan Research Laboratories, leaving them requiring 104 more runs for victory.

Mohammad Rizwan remained undefeated on 22 runs at the conclusion of the day's play. SNGPL found themselves chasing the moderate target after KRL were dismissed for 234 in their second innings.

Mohammad Faiq, who had resumed his innings on 64 not out, added only two runs to his overnight tally before departing for 66. His dismissal triggered a minor collapse in the middle order.

Shehzad Gul troubled the KRL batting line-up considerably, claiming five wickets at the expense of 61 runs. He received strong support from Shahnawaz Dahani, who picked up three wickets for 66 runs to wrap up the innings.

Earlier in the match, SNGPL had managed 195 runs in their first innings, during which Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with a fighting knock of 64. Both sides have fought intensely across the three days of the fixture.

Over at the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad, Pakistan Television produced a remarkable recovery against MIT Solutions after enduring a disastrous start. PTV had been bundled out for a mere 64 runs in their initial essay.

Forced to follow on in response to MIT's imposing first-innings total of 412, PTV staged an inspiring fightback to post 394 runs in their second innings. The resistance was anchored by a monumental partnership between Waqar Hussain and Taimur Khan.

Waqar Hussain converted his overnight score of 102 not out into a magnificent 171, while Taimur Khan built upon his 63 not out to finish with an exceptional 151 runs. Their centuries completely shifted the momentum of the game.

MIT Solutions bowlers toiled hard to break the stand, with Khalid Usman securing four wickets for 90 runs. Salman Aslam and Mohammad Ismail also chipped in with three wickets apiece to finally halt the resistance.

Despite PTV's heroic second-innings total, MIT secured the first-innings lead and were left needing a modest target of just 47 runs to seal victory when the final session concluded.

At the National Ground in Islamabad, the State Bank of Pakistan compiled 398 all out in response to Kingsmen Academy's first-innings total of 371 runs. Ali Shan batted with great composure to remain unbeaten on 100.

Kamran Ghulam also played a pivotal role for State Bank with a fluent 88 runs. Umer Khan was the pick of the bowling attack for Kingsmen Academy, claiming five wickets for 111 runs.

Kingsmen Academy subsequently reached 166 for two in their second innings by stumps, holding a healthy lead of 139 runs. Mohammad Tayyab Arif led the charge with an unbeaten 91, while Mohammad Huraira chipped in with 57 runs.

All four President's Trophy encounters are scheduled to reach their conclusions on Thursday, with OGDCL holding a commanding position against Ghani Glass and SNGPL pressing for a target chase against KRL.

Meanwhile, MIT Solutions require only 47 runs to complete their victory against PTV, and Kingsmen Academy maintain the upper hand against the State Bank of Pakistan heading into the final day.
