Hasan Nawaz’s 96 not enough as India beat Pakistan to Asian Games gold

Pakistan reached their first Asian Games cricket final and lost it by 19 runs in Nisshin.

India won the Asian Games men's cricket gold on Saturday, beating Pakistan by 19 runs at Korogi Athletic Park in Nisshin, Japan. India made 211 for 6 from their 20 overs and held Pakistan to 192 for 6.

Abhishek Sharma set up the total with 61 from 28 balls, and Tilak Varma finished it with an unbeaten 51 from 22. Arafat Minhas was Pakistan's best bowler with 2 for 25 from three overs.

Pakistan were 39 for 3 after six overs before Hasan Nawaz and Saim Ayub added 87 for the fourth wicket. Hasan hit seven sixes in 96 from 51 balls and was caught behind off Shivam Dube from the last ball of the match, with Pakistan needing 33 from the final over.

Sri Lanka took bronze after beating Bangladesh by 63 runs. Pakistan's women also won bronze, making cricket part of the country's best Asian Games medal haul since 2002.
