The Banana Ball Championship League has unveiled its ambitious 2027 schedule, confirming plans to expand internationally for the first time. The exhibition baseball circuit will visit Mexico and Canada as part of a massive tour spanning 79 stadiums across 74 cities.
League creator and owner Jesse Cole confirmed the expansion, noting that the decision follows years of growing global demand. The international leg of the tour will feature four teams playing in Monterrey and Tijuana, Mexico, as well as Winnipeg and Toronto, Canada.
In addition to the international expansion, the league introduced a new format titled Banana Ball 360. This innovation involves two distinct playing fields within a single stadium, with teams alternating between them at the conclusion of every inning.
The 360 format is designed to improve the viewing experience for fans in large venues. By switching fields, the league aims to ensure that spectators in every section of a stadium remain close to the action throughout the game.
The debut of the 360 concept is scheduled for June 26 at Notre Dame Stadium. Cole explained that the initiative was born from a desire to address the challenges of hosting games in stadiums that can accommodate up to 100,000 spectators.
The 2027 schedule includes a diverse mix of venues, ranging from intimate historic sites to major professional sports arenas. The tour will visit 23 Major League Baseball stadiums and 10 football stadiums, including LSU's Tiger Stadium.
The Banana Bowl, which serves as the league's championship event, is set to take place on September 25 at the New Nissan Stadium in Tennessee. The tour will also visit the Field of Dreams in Iowa and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
The league's commitment to fan engagement remains a priority, with Cole noting that the waitlist for tickets reached five million during the previous year. The inclusion of larger venues is intended to accommodate this high level of interest.
The Banana Ball Open will return to the schedule from April 15 to 18. This event will feature all six league teams competing at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Off the field, the league is collaborating with Disney to produce a documentary chronicling its growth over the past decade. The film, which features original music by Pasek and Paul, will premiere on June 12 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
Looking further ahead, the league has announced plans for a 2028 cruise experience. This venture will travel to Puerto Rico in January 2028 and conclude with a competitive match held at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan.
The league continues to emphasize innovation as a core pillar of its operations. Cole stated that the drive to undertake complex projects is what allows the organization to create unique experiences for its growing fan base.
The 2027 tour will also highlight the league's origins, with smaller venues remaining part of the schedule. For instance, the Coconuts are scheduled to play in Hawaii at a stadium with a capacity of 4,000 seats.
The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is also preparing for the league's visit by unveiling a dedicated exhibit featuring all six teams. This reflects the league's increasing integration into the broader baseball landscape.
By balancing large-scale stadium events with smaller, intimate settings, the league maintains its connection to its roots. This strategy is intended to keep the fan experience personal while expanding the reach of the sport.
The introduction of the 360 format represents a significant departure from traditional baseball conventions. By utilizing two fields, the league is attempting to redefine how spectators interact with the game in massive, multi-purpose arenas.
The league's rapid expansion and willingness to experiment with new formats have established it as a notable entity in sports entertainment. The upcoming 2027 season is expected to be the most extensive in the league's history.
As the 2027 tour approaches, the league remains focused on executing its logistical plans across multiple countries. The inclusion of international stops marks a major milestone in the development of the Banana Ball brand.
The upcoming documentary and the 2028 cruise project indicate that the league is continuing to diversify its offerings. These initiatives are designed to sustain interest and build a long-term community around the sport.
With the schedule now public, the league is preparing for a busy year of travel and competition. The combination of international games, new formats, and high-profile stadium stops underscores the league's ambitious growth trajectory.
