India Men Secure Semifinal Spot at Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship

India produced a dominant performance to defeat Tanzania 48-20 in Ahmedabad, confirming their place in the knockout stages of the inaugural tournament.

India Men Secure Semifinal Spot at Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship

The Indian men's kabaddi team successfully booked their place in the semifinals of the inaugural Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship on Tuesday. A comprehensive 48-20 victory over Tanzania at the Veer Savarkar Stadium in Ahmedabad ensured their progression.

India showcased a clinical all-round performance throughout the match, securing 30 raid points and 10 tackle points. The side proved too strong for their opponents, successfully inflicting six all-outs on the Tanzanian team during the encounter.

Neeraj Narwal spearheaded the Indian raiding unit, delivering an impressive display by accumulating 12 points from 16 raids. His contribution included six crucial bonus points, setting the tone for the team's offensive dominance in the contest.

Naveen Kumar and Shivam Patare also played pivotal roles in the victory, with both players finishing the match with nine points each. Their efficiency in raiding ensured that India maintained a consistent scoring momentum against the Tanzanian defense.

The Indian defensive unit was equally effective, stifling the opposition's attempts to build pressure. Shubham Shinde led the defensive efforts with five tackle points, while Deepak and Pravesh Malik provided solid support with three and two tackle points respectively.

Tanzania struggled to contain the Indian onslaught, though Juma Sultania emerged as a standout performer for the visitors. Sultania managed to score 13 points from 20 raids, including nine bonus points, in a spirited individual effort.

Despite the individual resistance from Tanzania, the collective strength of the Indian squad ensured they remained in control from the opening minutes. The visitors finished the match with 15 raid points and five tackle points without managing any all-outs.

This victory keeps India's campaign for the inaugural title firmly on track. Having secured their semifinal berth, the team will now look to maintain their winning form as the tournament progresses toward the final stages.

The Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship represents a significant milestone for the sport on the international stage. The inaugural edition has brought together various nations to compete in a high-stakes environment, further promoting the growth of kabaddi globally.

India is scheduled to play their final group-stage match against Sri Lanka this coming Thursday. The encounter, set for 8:30 p.m., will serve as a final preparation for the squad before they head into the knockout rounds.

The semifinals of the competition are slated to take place on Friday at 8:30 p.m. India will be aiming to carry their current momentum into these high-pressure matches as they pursue the championship trophy on home soil.

The Veer Savarkar Stadium in Ahmedabad has provided a vibrant atmosphere for the tournament, with local fans turning out to support the Indian side. The venue has hosted several key fixtures during the group stages of the event.

As the tournament moves into its decisive phase, the performance of top-tier raiders and defenders will be critical. India’s ability to rotate their squad and maintain intensity has been a hallmark of their campaign thus far.

The coaching staff will likely use the upcoming match against Sri Lanka to fine-tune strategies and assess player fitness. Maintaining a clean bill of health remains a priority as the schedule intensifies toward the weekend final.

With the semifinal spot now confirmed, the Indian team remains one of the primary contenders for the title. Their disciplined approach and depth in both raiding and tackling departments have established them as a formidable force in the championship.
