In the men's final, India defeated Sri Lanka 54-20 to secure the trophy. Earlier in the evening, the Indian women's team maintained their perfect record by overcoming Uganda 35-15 in their respective final match.

The men's victory was spearheaded by Aditya Shinde, who recorded a Super 10 with 10 raid points from 14 attempts. Bharat Hooda contributed eight raid points, while Yogesh Dahiya anchored the defence with a High 5, securing five successful tackles.

India's men dominated the contest from the outset, leading 30-10 at half-time after inflicting two All-Outs. They continued their momentum in the second half, adding two more All-Outs to finish with 30 raid points and 14 tackle points.

Sri Lanka struggled to contain the Indian raiders, with Maduwantha serving as their top performer with six tackle points. The Sri Lankan side managed only seven successful raids from 41 attempts throughout the duration of the final.

Aditya Shinde expressed his delight following the win, noting the significant support from the local crowd in Ahmedabad. He stated that the team was thrilled with the result and looked forward to future competitions with similar enthusiasm.

The men's team concluded a perfect campaign, winning all eight of their matches. They topped Group A before defeating Bangladesh 56-27 in the semi-finals, scoring a total of 380 points while conceding only 193 throughout the tournament.

In the women's final, Sakshi led the scoring for India with nine raid points from 10 raids. Anu added six points, while captain Nidhi Sharma contributed five, including three bonus points, to help secure the 35-15 victory.

The Indian women's defence proved impenetrable, with Ritu and Suman recording four tackle points each. India inflicted two All-Outs on Uganda, who relied heavily on Nakayongo Shirat, who scored 11 of her team's 15 total points.

India led 22-7 at half-time after a clinical opening period where they did not lose a single raid. Despite a more competitive second half, India's second All-Out with under 10 minutes remaining effectively sealed the gold medal.

Reflecting on the achievement, Sakshi highlighted the importance of the tournament for the growth of the sport. She said that the experience would be invaluable for young players and thanked the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India for organizing the event.

The Indian women's team finished their campaign with six wins from six matches. Their path to the title included victories over Malaysia, Singapore, Uganda, and Nigeria in the group stage, followed by a 39-14 semi-final win against Sri Lanka.

The inaugural championship served as a major showcase for international kabaddi, with organizers noting the improved competitiveness of visiting teams. The event concluded with celebrations in Ahmedabad as India celebrated a double gold medal success.

Brief scores (Men's Final): India 54 (Aditya Shinde 10, Bharat Hooda 8) beat Sri Lanka 20 (Maduwantha 6) by 34 points.

Brief scores (Women's Final): India 35 (Sakshi 9, Anu 6) beat Uganda 15 (Nakayongo Shirat 11) by 20 points.

India's men's team kicked off their tournament schedule with a commanding 44-30 victory against a determined Uganda side, displaying superiority in both attacking raids and defensive execution throughout the high-intensity encounter.

Meanwhile, the Indian women's team matched their male counterparts by securing an equally impressive 32-16 win over Singapore, establishing early dominance in their respective group fixtures on the opening day of the prestigious competition.

In the men's fixture, Shivam Patare spearheaded the Indian raiding department with a stellar performance, collecting eight crucial points that included six touch points and two important bonus points to destabilise the opposition defence.

Supporting Patare effectively in the raiding department, Naveen Kumar and Bharat chipped in with six raid points each, while Aditya Shinde added another four points to consolidate India's attacking foundation during the match.

The collective raiding unit of the Indian men's team proved too strong, accumulating a total of 27 raid points while maintaining relentless pressure on the Ugandan defensive line from the very first whistle to the final buzzer.

Defensively, the home side was equally formidable, collecting 11 tackle points through a disciplined and well-coordinated effort that completely stifled the opposition's attempts to mount a meaningful comeback in the contest.

Ajit Pawar led the defensive charge for the Indian men with three crucial tackle points, while teammates Nitesh, Yogesh Dahiya, and Deepak S each contributed two tackle points to solidify the backline.

The defensive disparity between the two sides was evident as the Indian side registered 11 successful tackles compared to just three from Uganda, underlining the tactical organisation of the hosts.

In addition to raiding and tackling dominance, India capitalized on their territorial advantage by securing six all-out points against Uganda, further widening the gap on the scoreboard as the match progressed.

Uganda fought valiantly despite the scoreline, with Mulaire Daglas emerging as their leading scorer by securing nine raid points, supported by Okidi Carnold and Sengendo Jimmy who contributed five points each.

Although Uganda managed to match India's tally of 27 raid points during the encounter, their defensive vulnerabilities cost them dearly, allowing the Indian team to pull away and seal a comfortable 44-30 triumph.

Shifting focus to the women's competition, the Indian women's team produced a clinical display against Singapore to register a resounding 32-16 victory that delighted the local supporters at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex.

Sakshi led the Indian women's raiding department with authority, securing six points, while Renuka and Anu contributed four raid points each to keep the scoreboard ticking over at a steady pace.

Adding further depth to the raiding unit, Nidhi Sharma chipped in with three points to ensure the pressure remained firmly on the Singaporean defenders throughout the duration of the scheduled fixture.

The Indian women's raiding unit accumulated 19 points overall, supplemented by nine tackle points and four all-out points that highlighted their all-round superiority on the opening day of the tournament.

On the defensive front for the women's team, Suman led the effort with four brilliant tackle points, while Muskan Sharma added two points to disrupt Singapore's raiding rhythm.

Further defensive contributions came from Riya Kumari, Sabahi Gadhavi, and Ritu, who each added a single tackle point to complete a comprehensive team performance in the field of play.

Singapore's women's team found heavy going against the hosts, though Arthi Selvan managed to finish as their top scorer with five raid points, while Anandarajan Sindini and M. Vishwalah Devi contributed four points each.

Despite managing 16 raid points overall, Singapore struggled immensely to contain the Indian attackers and ultimately failed to register a single successful tackle against the resolute Indian side.

With the opening day victories safely secured, both Indian squads are already preparing for their next challenges as the inaugural Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship continues its packed schedule in Ahmedabad.

The Indian women's team is scheduled to return to the mat to face Uganda in their next encounter, looking to build upon their strong defensive and offensive foundations shown against Singapore.

Meanwhile, the Indian men's team will turn their attention toward an upcoming fixture against Malaysia, aiming to maintain their winning momentum in front of the home crowd at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex.
