Carrick prepares his squad to face Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, with his position having come under intense scrutiny after a string of disappointing results. Defeats against Atlético Madrid, Como and Bournemouth during October have compounded the mounting pressure on the coaching staff.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, the head coach acknowledged that recent discussions behind closed doors have been far from comfortable. He emphasized the necessity of addressing shortcomings directly with the players, director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada.

It is pretty clear that conversations have not always been rosy or nice, whether between the manager and players or involving the executive team and owners, according to Carrick. He stressed that confronting the hard truth is essential for the club to move forward and reverse its current trajectory.

The 16th-placed side currently sits just one point above the relegation zone after 20 teams have contested the opening months of the season. Supporters voiced their frustration following last weekend's three-goal defeat, directing jeers at the players while offering sympathetic applause to the manager.

Carrick admitted to experiencing mixed emotions during that lap of the pitch, noting that while the personal appreciation from fans was touching, he felt completely united with his squad. He stated firmly that he does not separate himself from the players and remains fully committed to working through the crisis collectively.

The dressing room is hurting from the poor run of form, but the squad remains hungry to rectify their mistakes and restore confidence. Carrick believes that enduring these difficult moments together will ultimately forge a stronger bond between the team and the fanbase once results improve.

External criticism has also mounted regarding the professionalism of certain members within the squad during this difficult period. Pundits have raised questions about player habits away from the pitch, though the coaching staff has chosen to brush aside those specific outside allegations.

Manchester United must now quickly translate their training ground discussions into a positive on-field response at Stamford Bridge. Facing Chelsea represents a formidable challenge for a side desperate to spark a revival and climb away from the lower reaches of the table.
