Reflecting on the conversations, Raza expressed immense gratitude for the mentorship and backing offered by the two former pacers. He said that knowing legends of the sport are watching and supporting his progress creates a formidable feeling. Such guidance is considered vital for young players navigating the demanding transition from junior ranks to senior professional cricket. Both Asif and Zahid carved out reputations during their respective playing days for exceptional skill and control, making their endorsement particularly meaningful for an emerging fast bowler.

During this year's Pakistan Super League, the 18-year-old delivered impressive performances while representing Peshawar Zalmi. He claimed 10 wickets across five matches, maintaining a bowling average of 16.80 despite facing some of the most explosive batsmen in franchise cricket. While his economy rate stood at 9.78 during the tournament, his ability to pick up crucial wickets established his potential as a genuine match-winner. Franchise cricket has increasingly served as a crucial launching pad for young Pakistani talents eager to showcase their abilities on a grand stage.

Raza also experienced the rigours of red-ball cricket recently when featuring in the President's Trophy Grade-I competition. Playing for Ghani, he managed to pick up two wickets in two matches, enduring a challenging average of 86.50 during that stretch. Despite the tougher statistics in first-class fixtures, the young bowler remains determined to refine his technique and maintain a positive mindset. Constructive feedback from experienced campaigners is expected to help him address areas for improvement in his longer-format bowling.

Pakistan's domestic cricket structure continues to unearth promising prospects who are groomed for future international assignments. The national team recently secured a 2-1 victory in their T20I series against Sri Lanka before claiming success in the subsequent ODI tri-series involving Sri Lanka and England. Attention has now shifted towards the red-ball format as Pakistan prepares to host Sri Lanka for a two-Test series. The matches are scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore between November 9 and November 21.

As part of their preparations, a three-day warm-up match between the PCB Patron's XI and Sri Lanka is being contested from November 4 to November 6. Selectors are expected to add two additional pace bowlers to the Test squad following the conclusion of this warm-up fixture. Pakistan's squad for the upcoming series features captain Babar Azam alongside Abdullah Fazal, Ali Usman, Arafat Minhas, Azan Awais, Mohammad Abbas, and wicketkeeper Ghazi Ghori. The lineup also includes Mohammad Suleman, Mohammad Taha, Razaullah, wicketkeeper Saad Baig, Salman Ali Agha, Sameer Minhas, and Saud Shakeel as the team aims for a strong series performance.
