Fury and Joshua are scheduled to meet in a long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown at the Principality Stadium on December 11. Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that negotiations for a mouth-watering supporting bout are at an advanced stage following a media event on Thursday.

Hearn revealed that his team has accepted the proposal to make the match happen, though final confirmation is still pending. Tickets for the main event between Fury and Joshua sold out in just one hour after going on sale, highlighting massive public demand.

If finalised, fight fans will have the opportunity to witness the legendary eight-weight world champion Pacquiao face Wales' own former super-featherweight world champion Cordina. Pacquiao is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in boxing history, boasting an illustrious career spanning decades across multiple weight classes.

The potential bout would mark a historic milestone as the first time the 47-year-old has ever fought professionally in the United Kingdom. It would also represent Pacquiao's first appearance against a British opponent since his memorable victory over Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas in 2009.

Pacquiao has a professional record of 62 victories from 73 total fights throughout his legendary career. He has not stepped into the competitive ring since July 2025, having previously returned from a temporary retirement to pursue political ambitions in his homeland.

His most recent outing was a challenging bid to capture Mario Barrios' welterweight world title, a bout that ultimately ended in a majority draw. The Filipino icon was also previously scheduled to face longtime rival Floyd Mayweather in September, though that anticipated rematch was postponed indefinitely in June.

Despite his hiatus, Pacquiao remains a massive global attraction and would command significant television viewership for the event. The entire fight card is set to be broadcast globally by streaming giant Netflix, expanding its reach to millions of households worldwide.

For Cardiff-born Cordina, the potential matchup provides a phenomenal opportunity to perform in front of his home city supporters. The 34-year-old former IBF super-featherweight champion is eager to reignite his career on a massive global stage.

Cordina had previously been scheduled to challenge American contender Abduallah Mason for the WBO lightweight title in Cleveland earlier this year in July. However, those plans were derailed when the Welshman was denied a United States entry visa.

While maintaining his training regime, Cordina simultaneously stood trial to fight allegations of assault stemming from a petrol station incident. The former Olympian was eventually cleared of all charges, clearing the legal path for his return to high-level competition.

That decisive legal acquittal paved the way for a potential high-profile spot on the historic Joshua versus Fury pay-per-view bill. Cordina previously appeared on the undercard of Fury's undisputed championship clash against Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh in May 2024.

During that event in Saudi Arabia, Cordina suffered a defeat and lost his IBF super-featherweight title to Belfast challenger Anthony Cacace. A bout against Pacquiao in Cardiff would mark Cordina's first appearance in his home capital since he famously reclaimed his world belt against Shavkat Rahimov.

Details regarding additional fights on the supporting undercard for the December event are expected to be announced in due course. The main event itself has captured the imagination of the British sporting public, with initial ticket prices scaling up to thirteen thousand pounds.

The historic heavyweight clash between Fury and Joshua represents one of the most lucrative and heavily scrutinised promotional events in modern boxing history. Both fighters bring immense star power and a fierce domestic rivalry to the Welsh capital.

Pacquiao's inclusion would add an extra layer of global prestige to an already packed evening of elite pugilism. Boxing historians and enthusiasts alike will watch closely to see if terms can be fully realised for the cross-era confrontation.

Promoter Hearn expressed optimism during his media address, emphasizing that his camp has done everything necessary to facilitate the bout. While official confirmation is still required, the prospect of Cordina testing himself against Pacquiao has energized the British boxing landscape.

The supporting card is gradually taking shape as promoters finalise bouts to complement the heavyweight main event. The presence of international superstars alongside local talent is designed to maximise the entertainment value for the capacity crowd at Principality Stadium.

Cardiff has played host to several major boxing events over the years, and this card promises to be among the most watched. Local authorities and event organizers are preparing for a massive influx of international media and travelling supporters for the December fixture.

Further announcements regarding the broadcast details, press conferences, and full undercard lineup are expected in the coming weeks. Both camps will be keen to finalise all remaining contractual elements to ensure smooth preparations for fight night.

The upcoming world championship event has generated significant excitement within British boxing circles, offering local fans another opportunity to witness the reigning champion perform in her native Wales against a formidable and experienced challenger from the Czech Republic.

The same Cardiff venue previously played host to Price's successful defence of her IBF, WBA and WBC belts last April, during which the 32-year-old southpaw secured a hard-fought victory over mandatory challenger Stephanie Pineiro Aquino after digging deep through demanding rounds.

That previous encounter showcased the champion's resilience and tactical adaptability on home canvas, characteristics she will undoubtedly need to deploy again when she steps back into the squared circle to protect her coveted world championship status against fresh international opposition.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the upcoming bout, the former Olympic champion from Bargoed emphasised the unique energy of performing in front of her local supporters when the boxing world turns its attention to the Welsh capital later this autumn.

"There's nothing better than fighting at home in Wales," said the former Olympic champion from Bargoed. "The atmosphere in Cardiff is always incredible and I can't wait to walk out in front of my home fans again."

Reflecting on the challenges ahead, the champion acknowledged the calibre of her upcoming adversary while maintaining complete confidence in her own abilities to dictate the pace and secure a definitive victory on home turf.

"I've worked incredibly hard to get to this position and I'm not giving anything up. Kotaskova is a tough, experienced opponent who has competed at world level, but I believe I'm the best welterweight on the planet and on November 20 I'm going to show it," added Price.

The Welsh star also outlined her broader objectives for the evening, noting her desire to entertain the crowd and cement her standing as one of the leading figures in the modern era of women's professional boxing.

"I want to put on a big performance and give everyone in Wales another night to remember," Price concluded, highlighting her commitment to delivering memorable spectacles whenever she headlines major cards on home ground.

Challenger Michaela Kotaskova arrives in Wales boasting an impressive professional pedigree, having established herself as the current WBF titleholder while suffering only a single defeat across fifteen career outings in the professional ranks.

That sole blemish on the 34-year-old's record came on points against current unified world champion Chantelle Cameron when the pair collided for the vacant WBO super-welterweight title back in April 2026, marking a stern test at a higher weight class.

Kotaskova is now dropping back down to her natural weight division of welterweight, where she remains completely undefeated, and the Czech contender is fully determined to cause a major upset against the Welsh superstar in enemy territory.

Demonstrating her respect for the champion alongside her own unwavering ambition, Kotaskova voiced her readiness to embrace the hostile crowd and seize what she views as the defining opportunity of her professional fighting career.

"I have a lot of respect for Lauren and everything she has achieved, but I am coming to Cardiff to take her titles," said Kotaskova, setting the stage for a fiercely contested battle under the lights at the Utilita Arena.

"I have already shown that I can compete with the best fighters in the world. Welterweight is my natural division, I am undefeated at this weight and I believe this is my moment," the challenger asserted during preparations.

Acknowledging the anticipated atmosphere inside the venue, Kotaskova noted that the partisan crowd would serve merely as additional fuel rather than a deterrent as she attempts to make history on foreign soil.

"I know I will be walking into an arena full of Lauren's fans, but that only gives me more motivation. I am ready to make history on November 20," Kotaskova added, underlining her mental fortitude ahead of the championship clash.

Promoter Ben Shalom of Boxxer shared his perspective on the marquee fixture, underlining the exceptional drawing power of the Welsh champion and the significance of staging top-tier boxing events live and free-to-air on public television.

"Lauren Price is one of the biggest names in British boxing and there is something special about seeing her fight at home in Wales," said Shalom, reflecting on the growing popularity and commercial success of the sport nationwide.

"She has already created some incredible moments in Cardiff and we're delighted to bring her back for another major world title night, live and free-to-air on the BBC," Shalom continued, praising the collaborative broadcast arrangements.

Looking ahead to the tactical dimensions of the bout, the promoter warned against underestimating the challenger while reiterating his fighter's long-term ambitions within the welterweight division and across the wider sport.

"Kotaskova is a good fighter and will provide a tough test but Lauren has huge ambitions, and she knows she has to keep winning and keep producing big performances to secure her legacy. We're expecting another special night in Cardiff on November 20," Shalom stated.

Graham Davies, managing editor for Sport at BBC Cymru Wales, echoed those sentiments, emphasising the public broadcaster's commitment to delivering premium combat sports content to audiences throughout the United Kingdom without subscription barriers.

"Lauren Price is one of the standout stars of British boxing and we're delighted to bring her return to Cardiff to audiences across the UK," Davies remarked regarding the extensive television and digital coverage planned for November.

"Lauren's journey from Olympic champion to unified world champion has been remarkable, and this latest title defence promises to be another exciting chapter," the broadcasting executive noted in reference to her stellar athletic pedigree.

Davies also highlighted the accessibility of the event, explaining that the broadcast strategy aims to inspire new generations of sports fans by showcasing elite-level athletes on major free-to-air platforms.

"Bringing world-class boxing live and free-to-air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer gives fans everywhere the opportunity to follow that journey and enjoy another huge night of boxing from Cardiff," Davies added.

Complementing the main event, the fight card features a compelling undercard showcasing notable domestic talent, including a high-profile championship contest involving Welsh featherweight Rhys Edwards.

Edwards is scheduled to square off against Scotland's former British, Commonwealth and European champion Lee McGregor, with the vacant or contested WBA continental title adding extra incentive for both men.

Additionally, unbeaten middleweight prospect Kyran Jones from Cardiff will step through the ropes on the home-town undercard, seeking to extend his flawless professional record when he meets Liverpool's Sean Arkwright in an anticipated test of progression.
