Head coach Kim Hellberg watched his side lay down a clear marker for a place in the Premier League next season with a slick and incisive display. The victory elevated Boro to first place in the division, leaving supporters and pundits alike to marvel at the sheer scale of their dominance at the venue.

At the heart of the resounding victory was in-form striker Will Lankshear, who bagged a brace to extend his phenomenal goalscoring run. The summer signing from Tottenham Hotspur took his tally to 11 goals in 12 league appearances, cementing his status as the division's leading marksman.

Lankshear now boasts 13 goals across all competitions since arriving at the club in July for an initial fee of ten million pounds. The 21-year-old forward currently sits four goals clear of Southampton striker Cyle Larin at the very top of the Championship scoring charts.

Beyond the individual brilliance of their star striker, Middlesbrough overwhelmed Steven Schumacher's Bolton outfit with an incredible weight of attacking pressure. The visitors registered a staggering 31 shots at goal over the course of the ninety minutes, peppering the opposition defence relentlessly.

The sheer volume of chances was particularly pronounced in the first half alone, during which Middlesbrough unleashed 19 attempts on the Bolton goal. Of their 31 total efforts, 12 successfully hit the target, testing Bolton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu repeatedly throughout the contest.

Bolton shot-stopper Bazunu was kept exceptionally busy, producing a string of impressive saves to prevent an even heavier defeat for the home side. Nevertheless, the underlying statistics highlighted Boro's immense creative superiority, culminating in an expected goals metric of 4.16.

Former Bolton manager Keith Hill, working as a media pundit for BBC Radio Manchester during the match, offered glowing praise for the victors. Hill completely absolved the home side of blame, choosing instead to describe the opposition as a truly special group of players.

Hill remarked that the Middlesbrough creative players operated like gifted artists on the pitch while working harder than almost any other squad in the division. He added that if this match represented the standard required in the league, Boro would comfortably finish in the top two.

Bolton staff, players and supporters alike were left under no illusions that they had just faced the strongest team currently competing in the Championship. Steven Schumacher's men had previously put together encouraging results, including beating Wolves and drawing away at Southampton, but had no answers here.

The comprehensive nature of the victory also drew high praise from former Middlesbrough midfielder Neil Maddison, working as a pundit for BBC Radio Tees. Maddison described the performance as a five-star display of the highest order, barring the single Bolton goal scored just before halftime.

Maddison highlighted the mature game management shown by Hellberg's side in the second half, rating it as the finest performance under the Swedish manager. He also reserved special commendation for Lankshear, whose movement inside the final third caused constant panic for the home defence.

Describing the young forward as a sheer joy to watch, Maddison noted how Lankshear continually varies his runs by dropping deep to link up play. The striker's tactical intelligence is developing with every fixture, making him an increasingly formidable prospect for Championship defenders to handle.

Reflecting on his prolific evening, Lankshear remained appreciative of the collective effort that allowed him to thrive in the heart of the penalty area. The young forward admitted that his goal tally could easily have reached double figures given the sheer number of chances created.

Lankshear praised the contributions of wide attackers Tommy Conway and Amario Cozier-Duberry, whose service allowed him simple finishes from close range. The striker acknowledged that he feels deeply honoured and fortunate to be part of such a talented and ambitious squad.

Head coach Kim Hellberg expressed immense satisfaction with the aesthetic quality and attacking fluency of his team's performance away from home. Hellberg credited Bolton for attempting to play on the front foot and maintain an aggressive approach, which ultimately opened up the game.

The open nature of the contest allowed Middlesbrough to showcase the beauty of their combination play and clinical finishing around the penalty box. Hellberg also highlighted the positive impact made by his substitutes, with five players introduced from the bench maintaining the team's relentless tempo.

The victory means Middlesbrough have mirrored their exact points tally of 25 from the opening 12 games of the previous Championship campaign. Last season saw Boro climb to the top of the table by early February following a remarkable sequence of six consecutive victories.

However, that promising momentum stalled significantly during the final stretch of the previous term as Hellberg's side managed only four wins from their last 15 fixtures. They ultimately finished fifth in the standings before suffering defeat against Hull City in the play-off final.

That play-off appearance occurred under unusual circumstances after Southampton were expelled from the division due to a spying scandal, allowing Boro to be reinstated. The current squad is clearly determined to avoid any such late-season slump by securing automatic promotion this time around.

Middlesbrough's recruitment strategy in recent months has clearly paid dividends, with Lankshear standing out as one of the standout acquisitions across the entire division. The initial investment of ten million pounds is already being repaid handsomely through vital goals and match-winning performances.

Bolton will need to regroup quickly following this heavy defeat as they attempt to steer clear of trouble and regain their defensive resilience. Schumacher and his coaching staff face a significant task in lifting player morale after being comprehensively dismantled by the league leaders.

For Middlesbrough, the immediate focus shifts toward maintaining their newly acquired position at the pinnacle of the Championship table. With confidence surging through the squad and key players performing at their peak, Boro look increasingly equipped to sustain a serious title challenge.

The emphatic manner of this victory has undoubtedly sent a clear warning signal to every other promotion hopeful in the English second tier. As the autumn fixtures continue to unfold, all eyes will remain fixed on Teesside to see if Hellberg's men can maintain this formidable standard.
