The Round of 32 encounter required three games to determine a winner, lasting over an hour on the court. Farhan, who previously claimed the junior world championship title in 2023, eventually secured the victory with a final score of 21-11, 13-21, 21-10.

Following the conclusion of this match, the Indian contingent in the men’s singles event has been significantly reduced. With Shetty’s departure from the tournament, Kidambi Srikanth remains the sole Indian representative still in contention for the title.

Shetty entered the Denmark Open following a period of high-profile activity on the international circuit. The young shuttler was a member of the Indian men’s team that secured a bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

During his individual campaign at the Asian Games, Shetty reached the third round before being eliminated by Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen. His recent form also includes a notable performance at the 2026 BWF World Championships held in New Delhi.

At the World Championships, Shetty made a significant impact during his tournament debut. He achieved a major upset by defeating the then-World No. 1 Shi Yuqi, a result that highlighted his potential on the global stage.

The Denmark Open 2026 has proven to be a challenging event for several prominent Indian players. Alongside Shetty’s exit, the tournament has seen early eliminations for both P.V. Sindhu and Lakshya Sen in their respective categories.

While some members of the Indian squad have faced setbacks, others have managed to progress. Kidambi Srikanth and Tanvi Sharma have both successfully advanced to the second round of their respective events in Denmark.

The match between Shetty and Farhan took place on Court 1 at the SJF Bank Arena. Fans were able to follow the action through live streaming services provided by the BWF TV YouTube channel and Fancode.

As the tournament progresses, attention now shifts to the remaining players in the draw. The Denmark Open continues to be a key fixture on the BWF calendar, drawing top-tier talent from across the globe.

The loss marks a difficult start for Shetty in Denmark, but his recent bronze medal success in Japan remains a highlight of his 2026 season. He will look to regroup for upcoming fixtures on the international badminton circuit.

The 2026 season has been a busy year for Indian badminton, with players competing in major events including the Asian Games and the World Championships. These tournaments serve as vital preparation for future ranking opportunities.

Farhan’s victory highlights the continued strength of the Indonesian badminton program, particularly among its younger generation of players. The 2023 junior world champion demonstrated composure to recover after dropping the second game.

The Denmark Open is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious events in the sport. Success in this competition often carries significant weight in the world rankings and provides momentum for the remainder of the year.

With the first round now largely complete, the tournament moves into the second round of play. The remaining competitors will be looking to solidify their positions as they aim for the final stages of the competition.

For Indian fans, the focus remains on the progress of Kidambi Srikanth. As a seasoned campaigner, his performance will be closely watched as he attempts to navigate the remaining rounds of the men’s singles bracket.

The conditions at the SJF Bank Arena have provided a test for all participants this week. Players have had to adapt to the pace of the court and the competitive nature of the field present in Denmark.

As the tournament continues, the BWF will provide ongoing updates regarding match schedules and results. The competition in Denmark remains a critical test for players aiming to improve their standing before the season concludes.
