The former world number six takes over the non-playing role from Paul-Henri Mathieu after ending his 22-year career.

Former world number six Gael Monfils has been appointed captain of the France Davis Cup team, just a month after bringing his 22-year professional playing career to an end. The French Tennis Federation confirmed the appointment on Saturday, marking a swift return to the sport for the 40-year-old in a non-playing capacity.

Monfils takes over the role from Paul-Henri Mathieu, who guided the French team to the quarterfinals of the competition last year. The newly appointed captain will begin his tenure when France gets its next Davis Cup campaign underway with the qualifiers in February.

Expressing his pride in taking up the position, Monfils spoke about his long-standing affinity for representing his country on the international stage. He said that the blue jersey meant a great deal to him and that he was honored to step into the leadership role.

Monfils represented France across eight editions of the Davis Cup as a player, compiling a record of 12 wins in 15 singles matches. One of his most notable performances in the competition came during the 2014 final against Switzerland, where he defeated Roger Federer in straight sets, though France ultimately lost the tie.

While Monfils missed out on selection when France secured its tenth Davis Cup title in 2017, he now aims to guide the national team back to glory from the sidelines. He stated his intention to build a collaborative project and create the momentum necessary to win titles together.

The French Tennis Federation expressed confidence in the appointment, highlighting his infectious energy and enthusiasm as valuable assets for the squad. Gilles Moretton, the president of the federation, welcomed the transition and praised the former player's dedication to French tennis.

During his playing career, Monfils reached two Grand Slam semifinals and achieved a career-high ranking of world number six. He played his final competitive match at the US Open in September, exiting the tournament in the second round before receiving a retirement ceremony in Paris earlier this week.

To assist him in his new duties, Monfils will be supported by former French players Gilles Simon and Richard Gasquet on the coaching and leadership staff. The federation also thanked outgoing captain Mathieu for his three years of commitment to the role.

Towhid Hridoy scores a marathon unbeaten double-century in Sylhet to give Bangladesh a crucial first-innings lead over West Indies in the World Test Championship.

Towhid Hridoy scored an unbeaten double-century to drag Bangladesh out of trouble and secure a vital first-innings lead on the third day of the second World Test Championship Test against West Indies in Sylhet on Saturday.

The hosts reached a total of 386 all out, thanks largely to Hridoy carrying his bat for a magnificent 242 not out, which surpassed the previous highest individual Test score in Sylhet. West Indies reached 7-0 in their second innings before bad light brought an early end to proceedings, leaving the visitors trailing by 23 runs.

Bangladesh resumed the morning session on 88-3, still trailing by 268 runs after West Indies had posted 356 in their first innings. The home side suffered an immediate collapse in the opening session as the visiting spinners tore through the middle order.

Jomel Warrican claimed the wickets of Mushfiqur Rahim for 34 and Litton Das for eight in consecutive overs, with both batters caught at cover. Mushfiqur drove on the up to offer a sharp catch to Roston Chase, while Litton lobbed an easy chance to Brandon King.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz fell for 16 after playing an uppish lap sweep that resulted in Justin Greaves running from slip to take a smart catch on the leg side. Warrican then dismissed Hasan Mahmud caught behind for one as Bangladesh slumped into deeper trouble at 184-7.

Hridoy, who was unbeaten on 100 at the lunch interval, found a reliable partner in Taijul Islam to stage a crucial recovery. The pair put on 117 runs for the eighth wicket to frustrate the West Indies bowling attack and steady the innings.

Taijul contributed 22 runs before he was stumped by Amir Jangoo off the bowling of Warrican, leaving the score at 301-8. Despite losing his partner, Hridoy continued to accelerate and surpassed Mahmudul Hasan Joy's previous record of 171 against Ireland to set the highest Test score at the venue.

Hridoy's magnificent knock was adorned with 22 boundaries and 11 towering sixes as he converted his maiden Test hundred into a double-century. Bangladesh were playing a batter down due to an injury sustained by opening batsman Shadman Islam on the second day of the match.

Taskin Ahmed added 12 runs before he was dismissed by Jayden Seales, concluding the Bangladesh innings with a lead of 30 runs over the visitors. West Indies faced a brief period of batting before bad light forced the players off the field with seven runs on the board.

The Pakistan Cricket Board includes three uncapped players and Aamir Jamal in the 16-man squad for the Rawalpindi Test.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the inclusion of four players, including three uncapped prospects, in Pakistan's Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against Sri Lanka. Pace-bowling all-rounder Aamir Jamal, rookie pacer Ali Shabbir, batter Muhammad Tayyab Arif and pace bowler Saqib Khan have been added to the team following a statement released in Lahore on Saturday.

Tayyab, Ali and Saqib have received maiden Test call-ups after featuring in the Patron's XI versus Sri Lanka practice match at the Islamabad Club from November 4 to 6. Meanwhile, Ali Usman and Abdullah Fazal have been released from the original Test squad ahead of the opening fixture.

Aamir returns to the Test setup having previously played nine Tests, three ODIs and six T20Is for Pakistan. He recently claimed the player of the final award in the President's Trophy Grade-I, recording bowling figures of seven for 32 alongside a 55-run innings for Markhor IT Solutions, and previously captained Lahore Whites in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold.

Tayyab earned his selection after scoring 727 runs across seven matches at an average of 66.09, striking three centuries in his debut season while leading Kingsmen Academy in the departmental first-class tournament. Nineteen-year-old fast bowler Ali has accumulated 22 wickets from eight first-class appearances, adding three wickets during the practice fixture against Sri Lanka.

Saqib played a central role in Karachi Blues' title-winning campaign in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26, finishing with 47 wickets from nine matches at an average of 20.60, which included a best performance of seven wickets for 34 runs.

The 16-member Pakistan Test squad is captained by Babar Azam and includes Aamir, Ali, Arafat Minhas, Azan Awais, Mohammad Abbas, wicketkeeper Mohammad Ghazi Ghori, Mohammad Suleman, Mohammad Taha, Tayyab, Razaullah, wicketkeeper Saad Baig, Salman Ali Agha, Sameer Minhas, Saqib and Saud Shakeel.

The first Test match of the two-match series is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 9, at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Gurnoor Brar claims career-best figures as India secure a narrow victory over New Zealand in the second ODI.

India secured a narrow four-run victory over New Zealand using the DLS method in a rain-affected second one-day international in Wellington on Friday. The win gives the touring side a 2-0 lead in the five-match series following their earlier success in Auckland.

New Zealand were bowled out for 134 in 41 overs after their innings was disrupted by rain and early damage from the visiting pace attack. India reached a revised target during a low-scoring chase before rain ended play with the tourists marginally ahead.

New Zealand struggled early in their innings after losing their first three wickets for just 23 runs inside the ninth over. Auqib Nabi and Anshul Kamboj caused immediate problems for the home batting lineup with the moving ball.

Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Santner attempted to rebuild the innings by sharing a 59-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Mitchell provided the primary resistance for the hosts with a knock of 55 runs before falling to Axar Patel.

Axar dismissed Mitchell when the batter attempted a big shot, finishing his spell with figures of 2-28. Gurnoor Brar then removed Santner as the New Zealand lower order collapsed, with the hosts dismissed in 41 overs.

Brar finished as the pick of the Indian bowlers with career-best figures of 4-30, utilising extra bounce from the pitch. Auqib Nabi claimed 2-31 and Anshul Kamboj took 2-25 to complete a dominant bowling display.

Chasing a revised target of 135 from 47 overs, India encountered immediate trouble against the New Zealand pace attack. Jacob Duffy dismissed both Shubman Gill for a duck and Virat Kohli for seven runs within the opening two overs.

Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer sought to stabilise the innings through a cautious partnership amidst testing conditions. Rohit responded to shorter deliveries with aggressive pull shots before edging a delivery from Kyle Jamieson to the slip fielder to depart for 23.

Axar Patel contributed seven runs before falling to Matthew Fisher, leaving the tourists under pressure. Shreyas and KL Rahul combined to steer the chase forward with watchful strokeplay.

Jamieson struck with the final ball of the 20th over to dismiss Shreyas for 30 runs, leaving India needing 49 runs with five wickets remaining. Naman Dhir added crucial runs before being caught in the deep while attempting a six off Duffy.

Rain arrived to halt proceedings with India positioned ahead on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, securing the narrow triumph. The result extends India's advantage in the five-match series to two matches to none.

The teams will travel to Hamilton for the third match of the series scheduled for November 10. Subsequent fixtures will take place in Mount Maunganui on November 13 and November 15.

Popular content creator Nicholas Stewart has secured a Tier 2 North American roster, rebranding the squad as Jynxzi Esports.

Popular Rainbow Six Siege content creator Nicholas "Jynxzi" Stewart has stepped into professional team management by acquiring the FYR Strays roster from CAMPFYR and rebranding the squad as Jynxzi Esports. The announcement marks the streamer's first venture into owning an esports organisation within the tactical shooter ecosystem.

The newly formed Jynxzi Esports roster consists of Ryan "Mingo" Hall, Ethan "Franklin" Franklin, Loo, jayyguns, and 3ootz. Among the lineup, Mingo commands a following of 570,000 on Twitch, while the squad established itself in Tier 2 competition by winning ELEMENT FIVE alongside back-to-back North American Open Cups in Palmetto Bay and Salt Lake City.

Across those three tournament victories over a three-month period, the roster accumulated nearly USD $25,000 in prize winnings. The team previously claimed the title of the North American Open Cup Champions in October, building a strong reputation within the regional Tier 2 circuit.

The acquisition has positioned Jynxzi Esports with direct qualification to the Last Chance Qualifier for the upcoming Six Invitational. The team holds an opportunity to secure a spot at the prestigious global tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Brazil in February.

Ubisoft acknowledged the development through an official release, highlighting Stewart's ongoing collaboration with the game's competitive ecosystem. Stewart previously hosted a creator tournament earlier in the year and earned the 2025 Six Invitational MVP award, which included an in-game cosmetic bundle.

It remains unconfirmed whether Jynxzi Esports will secure a position within North America's Tier 1 division for the 2027 season. Future participation in the R6 Share Program could potentially introduce branded weapon, drone, and operator skins, alongside weapon charms and operator card backgrounds.

Jynxzi Esports will prepare for the North American Last Chance Qualifier in their bid to reach the Six Invitational 2027.

Hugo Keenan scored three tries as Ireland ran in six tries to claim a commanding bonus-point victory over Argentina in Dublin.

Ireland opened the home leg of their Nations Championship campaign with a dominant 42-12 bonus-point victory over Argentina at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Friday night. Full-back Hugo Keenan scored a hat-trick as Andy Farrell's side ran in six tries.

The hosts took control with a 21-5 half-time lead before closing out a comfortable win. Captain Dan Sheehan, fly-half Sam Prendergast, and replacement hooker Ronan Kelleher scored Ireland's other tries, while Prendergast kicked five conversions and Ciaran Frawley added another.

Argentina scored two tries through winger Mateo Carreras, with fly-half Tomas Albornoz adding a conversion. However, the visitors suffered from yellow cards to Justo Piccardo and Ephraim Elias, alongside several injuries that severely hampered their set-piece.

The victory maintains Ireland's unbeaten home record against Argentina, extending their streak to 12 consecutive wins in Dublin. It also marked a strong rebound for Andy Farrell's team following their 40-21 defeat against New Zealand in Auckland.

Argentina had taken an early lead in the 11th minute when Albornoz executed a precise crosskick to the corner. Carreras outjumped Ireland scrum-half Craig Casey to gather the ball and touch down for the opening score.

Ireland responded quickly after Casey won a turnover penalty to shift momentum back to the hosts. From the resulting line-out, Robert Baloucoune broke through midfield before offloading to Mack Hansen, who set up Keenan for Ireland's first try.

The hosts extended their advantage when open-side flanker Nick Timoney combined with Sheehan from a line-out move to send the captain over. Sheehan's effort capitalized on early pressure against Argentina's struggling set-piece.

Ireland added a third try before the break after lock Ryan Baird stole an opposition line-out. Hansen combined with Keenan once more to allow the full-back to touch down his second try of the match.

Argentina faced major structural difficulties late in the first half after outside centre Piccardo was sent to the sin-bin. Captain Julian Montoya and replacement Leonel Oviedo both left the pitch for head injury assessments, forcing loose-head prop Boris Wenger to cover at hooker.

Ireland also lost Sheehan to a head injury assessment before the interval. Despite the interruptions, the home side held a firm 16-point advantage heading into the dressing rooms.

Two minutes into the second half, Prendergast cut through a gap in the Argentine defence to score his first international try. The fly-half's score secured Ireland's bonus point after he shook off a wrist injury to start the match.

Argentina briefly reduced the deficit when Carreras scored his second try following a break by Santiago Chocobares. Albornoz converted the attempt to bring the Pumas back within 16 points.

Keenan completed his hat-trick shortly after, taking an offload from Baird to score his third try of the night. The score brought Keenan's Nations Championship tally to five tries following earlier efforts against Australia and New Zealand.

The full-back was making his first appearance in green at the Aviva Stadium in 21 months following an extended injury layoff. Keenan noted after the match that it had been tough watching his teammates while sidelined.

Ireland sealed their six-try display when Kelleher touched down from a rolling maul. The score followed a yellow card for Argentina's Elias, who was sin-binned for a high tackle on Keenan.

The closing quarter proved untidy as Ireland replacement tight-head prop Sam Illo was yellow-carded on the hour mark for driving early at a maul. Neither side managed to add further points in the final 20 minutes.

Ireland head coach Andy Farrell expressed satisfaction with the victory while noting room for improvement. Farrell highlighted that his team dominated territory throughout the match but failed to convert all their scoring opportunities.

The result leaves Ireland at the top of the northern hemisphere standings ahead of the remaining weekend fixtures. Ireland host Fiji next week before welcoming world champions South Africa to Dublin on 21 November.

Argentina now travel to face Italy and France after suffering their third defeat in four matches. Coach Felipe Contepomi will look to fix discipline and defensive issues after recently adding Mario Ledesma and Shaun Edwards to his coaching staff.

Brief scores: Ireland 42 (21) – Tries: Hugo Keenan (3), Dan Sheehan, Sam Prendergast, Ronan Kelleher; Conversions: Sam Prendergast (5), Ciaran Frawley. Argentina 12 (5) – Tries: Mateo Carreras (2); Conversion: Tomas Albornoz.

Arch-rivals meet at Al Amerat Cricket Ground on Sunday following opening-match victories in Group A.

India Under-19 and Pakistan Under-19 meet in the eighth match of the ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup 2026 at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Sunday. Both teams enter the Group A fixture following commanding opening victories in the tournament.

India secured a 10-wicket win over Nepal, while Pakistan began their campaign with a nine-wicket victory against the United Arab Emirates. The high-profile encounter begins at 10:30 AM IST, with the toss scheduled for 30 minutes prior.

India captain Lakshya Raichandani and Aaryavir Sehwag starred in the opening win, with Sehwag hitting an unbeaten 70 off 52 balls and Raichandani contributing an unbeaten 53. Pakistan's opening victory was anchored by Usman Khan, who smashed an unbeaten 139 against the UAE.

Pakistan hold the upper hand in recent head-to-head meetings at the under-19 level, winning three of their last five encounters against India. However, India claimed a 58-run victory in their most recent meeting during the ICC U19 World Cup Super Six stage on February 1, 2026.

In overall Youth One-Day Internationals, India have won 21 of their 32 matches against Pakistan, with Pakistan securing 11 victories. Within continental and global tournaments, India have claimed nine wins in 13 ACC U19 Asia Cup matches compared to Pakistan's three.

The Al Amerat pitch has traditionally favored bowlers, with spinners taking seventy percent of wickets in recent matches and maintaining lower economy rates than pacers. The average first-innings score at the venue stands at 208, rising to 230 across the last five matches.

Sunny weather is forecast in Al Amerat with temperatures near 28 degrees Celsius, low humidity, and a four percent chance of rain. Dew levels are expected to remain low throughout the fixture.

In India, the match will be broadcast live on the Sony Sports Network and streamed on SonyLIV. Viewers in Pakistan can watch the broadcast on PTV Sports and Geo Super, with digital streaming available on Myco, Tamasha, ARY Zapp, and Tapmad.

Maro Itoje returns to captain Steve Borthwick's side as the international competition resumes at Twickenham.

England host Australia at Allianz Stadium Twickenham on Sunday afternoon in the opening match of the concluding autumn series of the 2026 Nations Championship. Head coach Steve Borthwick's side resume their international campaign aiming to build on summer victories over Fiji and Argentina following an opening defeat to South Africa.

The match kicks off at 3:10pm GMT and will be broadcast live and free-to-air on ITV1 in the United Kingdom, with live streaming available via the ITVX platform. England enter the fixture sitting third in the Northern Hemisphere table under mounting pressure ahead of next year's Rugby World Cup.

Regular skipper Maro Itoje returns to lead the team from the second row after being rested during the summer fixtures, taking back the captaincy from hooker Jamie George. Fin Smith has been cleared to start at fly-half following a recovery from a calf injury, joining scrum-half Jack van Poortvliet at half-back.

George Furbank starts at full-back after missing the summer campaign due to appendicitis, completing four changes to the starting XV alongside Fin Baxter at loosehead prop and Ben Curry at openside flanker. Alex Mitchell misses the entire autumn series with a hamstring injury, while Exeter back row Greg Fisilau is in line to earn his first cap from the replacements bench.

Australia arrive in south-west London positioned third in the Southern Hemisphere table under the new coaching direction of Les Kiss. The visitors welcome back Len Ikitau in the midfield alongside Isaac Henry following recovery from concussion, with Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii shifting to the right wing.

Fraser McReight reaches his 50th international appearance at openside flanker, while number eight Harry Wilson assumes the captaincy. Declan Meredith continues at fly-half ahead of Ben Donaldson, with former Exeter star Kurtley Beale omitted from the matchday squad after his surprise selection.

England won 25-7 when the two sides met at Twickenham last autumn, avenging a narrow 42-37 defeat from the previous year. Steve Borthwick's team have claimed three victories from their last five encounters against the Wallabies since 2021.

Following Sunday's fixture, England will continue their autumn schedule with matches against Japan and New Zealand before concluding the inaugural Nations Championship with play-off finals later in November. Australia's itinerary includes subsequent away fixtures against Scotland and Wales.

The Islamabad High Court has ordered fresh elections for the Pakistan Badminton Federation within 90 days.

The Islamabad High Court on Saturday declared the October 2025 elections of the Pakistan Badminton Federation illegal and null and void, ordering fresh polls to be conducted within 90 days.

The court directed the Pakistan Sports Board to notify an Election Commission and oversee the new electoral process in accordance with Rule 17 of the Pakistan Sports Board Constitution 2022.

An ad hoc committee has been ordered to manage the day-to-day affairs of the federation until a newly elected body formally assumes charge.

The committee will be headed by the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and will oversee sporting administration during the interim period.

Membership of the ad hoc committee will include the Director of National Sports Federations of the Pakistan Sports Board as well as four former badminton champions.

The former champions representing the provinces on the committee will hail from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan respectively.

Legal challenges against the previous poll outcome argued that management committee elections for national sports federations must be conducted exclusively through an Election Commission notified by the Pakistan Sports Board.

The petitioner previously approached the panel of adjudicators notified by the Pakistan Sports Board, which had directed both the federation and the board to ensure transparent elections under the 2022 Constitution.

Despite the adjudicators' directions, the federation proceeded to notify its own Election Commission and conducted elections on October 24, 2025.

Further contentions raised during the hearings pointed out that the previous polls were held without proper advertisement and without following criteria prescribed under relevant rules.

All candidates declared successful in the contested October 2025 elections had been returned unopposed, according to the petitioner's arguments accepted by the court.

The newly ordered electoral process must encompass the entire procedure from the announcement of the election schedule to the final declaration of results within the stipulated 90-day timeframe.

Former Australia opener Usman Khawaja has alleged that every member of the touring party was aware of the Cape Town scandal.

Former Australia Test opener Usman Khawaja has claimed that the entire touring squad was aware of the ball-tampering plot during the controversial 2018 tour of South Africa. His revelations directly challenge the long-standing official narrative regarding the notorious incident.

Writing in his upcoming autobiography Sabr, Khawaja stated that the entire dressing room, including batters, bowlers and support staff, knew about the plan to use sandpaper on the ball. The explosive claims come nearly eight years after the scandal during the third Test in Cape Town.

Following the 2018 incident, Cricket Australia conducted an investigation that resulted in sanctions for only three players. Captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner were handed 12-month suspensions, while Cameron Bancroft received a nine-month ban for handling the sandpaper on the field.

Khawaja asserted that the responsibility should have been shared collectively rather than falling solely on the trio. He said that he had urged his team-mates in the dressing room after the match to take the blame as a team because everyone knew what was happening.

The retired batter revealed that discussions regarding ball tampering had already taken place during the second Test in Port Elizabeth. According to Khawaja, Bancroft had volunteered to use sandpaper on the ball during that match before the scheme came to light in Cape Town.

Khawaja added that Steve Smith had walked away from the initial discussions in the dressing room at Port Elizabeth, appearing to indicate that he did not want to be involved. Despite playing in the Cape Town Test, Khawaja expressed surprise that he was never called upon to give evidence during the original investigation.

Cricket Australia responded to the publication extracts by maintaining confidence in its initial findings. A spokesperson stated that all relevant information presented at the time was properly considered and that the governing body remains comfortable with the integrity process.

Australia Test captain Pat Cummins previously confirmed that Khawaja had informed him about the book prior to its release. Cummins stated that the matter was thoroughly dealt with years ago and that the team had moved on from the episode.

In 2021, bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon issued a joint statement denying any prior knowledge of the tampering scheme. Bancroft had earlier suggested in an interview that the involvement of the bowling attack was self-explanatory.

Khawaja noted that despite the turmoil, the scandal ultimately helped the Australian team rediscover its humility under subsequent coach Justin Langer. He dedicated the chapter on the incident to Bancroft, Warner and Smith, expressing regret that the three players shouldered the full punishment.

Khawaja retired from international cricket following Australia's Ashes series against England last winter, finishing a career that spanned 88 Test matches. Sabr is scheduled for release on Tuesday.

Wallabies head coach Les Kiss stresses the need for consistency as his side prepares for Sunday's Test match.

Australia face England on Sunday aiming to translate flashes of attacking brilliance into sustained momentum ahead of next year's home World Cup. Head coach Les Kiss has named a formidable side featuring Tom Wright at full-back, Max Jorgensen and Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii on the wings, and Len Ikitau returning in the midfield.

The forward pack includes Harry Wilson and Fraser McReight in the back row alongside Jeremy Williams, Josh Canham and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, with Rob Valetini positioned among the replacements. Props Angus Bell and Allan Alaalatoa anchor the front row for the touring side.

The squad arrives looking to find consistency after a mixed run of results over recent seasons. While capable of producing moments of magic on the field, the side has struggled to string winning performances together across successive Test matches.

Recent encounters saw the team lose all four fixtures on their European tour last autumn before suffering two further defeats in the summer. An unbeaten run across six matches against Italy, Japan, Argentina and South Africa followed before back-to-back losses against the All Blacks in the Bledisloe Cup.

Head coach Les Kiss acknowledged the external expectations surrounding the team as preparations continue toward the upcoming home World Cup tournament. Speaking on Friday, Kiss emphasised the importance of remaining grounded and focusing entirely on immediate execution rather than looking too far ahead.

The coach stated that the touring party understands the nature of the demands and expectations heading into next year. He noted that the ongoing tour serves as an opportunity to establish a strong foundation for the future without getting ahead of themselves.

Kiss explained that his primary focus remains on controlling the immediate tasks on the pitch from the opening whistle. He stressed that getting the kick-off right and managing every single minute of the contest is all that truly matters right now.

The coaching staff face ongoing decisions regarding player selection, including whether to integrate experienced veterans who have expressed interest in returning to the international fold. Kurtley Beale has received a call-up, while other former internationals have signed short-term deals with domestic clubs.

Additional squad depth has been discussed with players transitioning from rugby league codes, though selection remains strictly merit-based. Kiss maintained that positions within the touring squad will not be gifted to anyone regardless of past achievements or external interest.

The team aims to capitalise on the once-in-a-generation opportunity presented by the upcoming home tournament to revitalize the sport domestically. Sunday's fixture at Twickenham provides another vital stepping stone for the squad as they seek to build cohesion and defensive resilience.

The 31-year-old center has not played this season due to ongoing health issues related to postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome.

Golden State Warriors center Kristaps Porziņģis announced that he is stepping away from the team in a statement posted on social media on Friday, citing ongoing physical challenges. The 31-year-old player has not appeared in any games for Golden State during the current campaign due to lingering effects from postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome.

In his statement, Porziņģis explained that his body did not respond the way he anticipated as he prepared for the season, leading to his decision to prioritize his health. He expressed appreciation to his family, supporters, and the organization while indicating an intention to work with the franchise toward a solution.

The center was initially acquired by Golden State in a February trade with the Atlanta Hawks. Following that transition, his appearances were limited to 15 games down the stretch of the 2025-26 season before he signed a two-year, $40 million contract to remain with the team in June.

Ahead of the current campaign, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. stated on September 28 that Porziņģis would be sidelined indefinitely at the start of training camp. The franchise subsequently confirmed on October 14 that the player would remain away from the court indefinitely due to a health-related matter.

Reports emerged this week indicating that the organization was withholding semimonthly payments on his salary and exploring potential trade options. Sources noted that the player was not actively disputing the withheld payments and the National Basketball Players Association had no plans to challenge the decision.

Throughout his career, Porziņģis began with the New York Knicks, earning an All-Star selection in 2018 before sustaining a torn ACL that caused him to miss the 2018-19 season. Subsequent stops included the Dallas Mavericks and other franchises, followed by a championship victory as a key starter with the Boston Celtics in 2024. The Warriors currently hold a 6-3 record this season as they navigate the roster implications of his departure.

Carlos Alcaraz saved two match points to defeat Taylor Fritz 6-7 (10-12) 7-5 6-3 at the Paris Masters on Friday.

Carlos Alcaraz produced a remarkable comeback at the Paris Masters on Friday, saving two match points to defeat American Taylor Fritz 6-7 (10-12) 7-5 6-3 and secure a semi-final spot in the French capital. The victory for the Spanish star also carried significant ramifications for the season-ending ATP Finals, handing his compatriot Rafael Jodar the final qualification berth for the tournament in Turin.

Fritz edged a tightly contested opening set by taking the tie-break 12-10 after both players squandered opportunities to claim the advantage. The American then seized control in the second set, moving a break ahead and earning two separate match points while holding a 5-3 lead on Alcaraz's serve and a 5-4 advantage on his own.

Alcaraz dug deep to fend off both match points, breaking Fritz twice to level the second set before dominating the decider. After establishing a 3-1 lead in the third set, the Spaniard closed out the contest with a powerful forehand to seal victory in front of the Paris crowd.

"I tried not to let myself down in those difficult moments – to stay strong mentally," Alcaraz said after the match. "We played incredible tennis, both of us, and I used the energy of the people to give them what they wanted to watch. To entertain them."

The defeat extinguished Fritz's hopes of reaching the ATP Finals, which will run from 15 to 22 November at Turin's Inalpi Arena. Earlier in the day, Tommy Paul also saw his qualification hopes dashed following a 6-4 4-6 6-3 defeat against fellow American Ben Shelton.

Paul's loss guaranteed a spot at the season finale for American Frances Tiafoe. Both 28-year-old Tiafoe and 20-year-old Jodar will make their debut appearances at the elite eight-man year-end championship.

The confirmed singles field for Turin features Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Flavio Cobolli, Arthur Fils, Alcaraz, Shelton, Tiafoe, and Jodar. Jodar turned professional at the start of 2026 after capturing three ATP Challenger titles in 2025 and his maiden ATP Tour title in Marrakech in April.

Alcaraz will continue his Paris Masters campaign in the semi-finals, where he is set to face either Casper Ruud or Nuno Borges for a place in the title match.

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has held clear-the-air talks with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc following their dramatic first-lap collision at the Mexican Grand Prix.

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has held clear-the-air talks with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc following their dramatic first-lap collision at the Mexican Grand Prix last week. The internal discussions took place on Thursday evening in Sao Paulo ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc both went off the track on the opening lap in Mexico City while fighting for the lead. The incident allowed Max Verstappen to take advantage, with the Red Bull driver going on to claim victory ahead of Hamilton in second, while Leclerc finished fourth off the podium.

Hamilton was left furious by how his team-mate raced him at the start and subsequently lobbied the stewards for a heavier penalty after Leclerc cut the track. The seven-time world champion demanded serious internal discussions regarding team-mate rules, while Vasseur expressed frustration over a perceived lack of respect toward the team's factory staff.

Vasseur insisted that the message delivered to both drivers during the meeting was loud, clear, and focused on collective responsibility. He stressed that Ferrari must always take precedence over individual ambitions and that mutual respect is non-negotiable on the track.

The Ferrari boss said: "The guidelines are always the same. They are two competitors with a fighting spirit for sure, but they need to have respect for each other." He added that the drivers "need to respect the brand, the team, the people working at home, the people working on track."

Addressing Hamilton's claims that Leclerc races him harder than other competitors, Vasseur pointed to Leclerc's overtake on Verstappen in Austin as evidence of hard but fair racing. He noted that the line between hard racing and overstepping is fine, but emphasized that Leclerc avoided a collision in that instance.

Vasseur acknowledged that the team missed a golden opportunity to secure a dominant one-two finish in Mexico City. He stated that the collective failure required an immediate reaction and clear guidelines moving forward.

Vasseur said: "For sure, in this situation, we failed collectively because we were one and two and we didn't win the race at the end. That means that it's clear that we failed and we have to react." He reiterated that the team's interests remain the absolute priority for the brand, employees, and fans.

The Scuderia Ferrari squad will return to the track in Sao Paulo for the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix practice and qualifying sessions.

Head coach Jesus has unveiled his maiden selection for Portugal, marking a new era for the national team.

Portugal head coach Jesus has announced his first national team squad since the international retirement of Cristiano Ronaldo. The selection signals a strategic shift in leadership as the team prepares for upcoming international fixtures.

The squad announcement follows the conclusion of Ronaldo's historic tenure with the national side. Jesus confirmed that the coaching staff has identified new leaders within the group to guide the team through this transitional phase.

Jesus stated that the focus remains on integrating fresh talent while maintaining the competitive standards established by the previous generation. The manager emphasised that the team structure will evolve to accommodate the strengths of the current roster.

The new leadership group is expected to take on increased responsibilities both on and off the pitch. Jesus noted that the selection process was thorough, aiming to balance experience with emerging players who have performed consistently at the club level.

Portugal will now look to build on their recent tactical foundations under the guidance of the new leadership core. The squad is scheduled to assemble at the national training centre early next week to begin preparations for their next competitive match.

The upcoming fixtures will provide the first opportunity to observe the team's tactical adjustments in a match environment. Further details regarding the specific training schedule and individual player roles are expected to be released by the federation shortly.

The opening round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold concluded with decisive performances from Peshawar Blues, FATA, and Multan.

Peshawar Blues, FATA, and Multan emerged victorious as the first round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold concluded on Thursday. The domestic tournament saw competitive action across multiple venues as teams vied for early points in the competition.

The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the results following the completion of the final day's play. Each side demonstrated clinical form with both bat and ball to overcome their respective opponents and start their campaigns on a positive note.

Cleveland head coach Todd Monken confirmed Shedeur Sanders will start Sunday's game as Deshaun Watson remains in the NFL's concussion protocol.

The Cleveland Browns will start Shedeur Sanders at quarterback for Sunday's road game against the New Orleans Saints, head coach Todd Monken announced on Friday. The decision comes as veteran Deshaun Watson continues to navigate the league's concussion protocol.

Watson, who reported concussion symptoms on Monday following a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, returned to practice in a limited capacity on Friday. Despite his participation, he remains listed as questionable for the Week 9 matchup.

Sanders, a 2025 fifth-round draft pick, took all the starting repetitions during practice this week while Watson was sidelined. Monken noted that this consistent preparation was a primary factor in the decision to name him the starter for Sunday.

This will mark the first start of the season for Sanders. As a rookie in 2025, he started seven games for the Browns, recording 1,400 passing yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions while leading the team to a 3-4 record.

Reflecting on his development, Sanders said he used his rookie experience to identify areas for improvement. He added that he focused on refining his mechanics and understanding of the game during the offseason and training camp in preparation for such opportunities.

Monken praised the young quarterback's work ethic and progress, highlighting improvements in his footwork, mechanics, and ability to work through progressions. The head coach emphasized that the team's quarterback competition during training camp was designed to foster this growth.

Dillon Gabriel, who recently returned from injured reserve, is expected to serve as the backup quarterback. Rookie Taylen Green, who has acted as the emergency quarterback for much of the season, will return to that role for the Saints game.

Following the contest in New Orleans, the 5-3 Browns are scheduled to return home to host the Houston Texans in Week 10 before entering their bye week.

Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola confirms midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is a major doubt for Sunday's Premier League clash at Selhurst Park due to a heel injury.

Liverpool travel to face Crystal Palace on Sunday in a Premier League fixture, with head coach Andoni Iraola confirming that midfielder Ryan Gravenberch remains the only significant injury concern for the squad.

Gravenberch missed the recent Champions League defeat against Fenerbahce after failing to travel to Istanbul due to a heel injury. The midfielder is currently being assessed on a day-to-day basis to determine his availability for the match.

Iraola stated that the decision on Gravenberch’s involvement will depend on his ability to manage the pain. The head coach confirmed that the rest of the squad remains available for selection following their midweek European commitments.

Should Gravenberch be ruled out, Iraola may look to pair Trey Nyoni with Alexis Mac Allister in midfield. Alternatively, the manager could opt to deploy Dominik Szoboszlai in a deeper role to accommodate Florian Wirtz as the number 10.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker is expected to retain his place in the starting lineup despite recent scrutiny over his performances against Arsenal and Fenerbahce. Defenders Milos Kerkez and Ronald Araujo are also in line for a return to the starting XI.

Alexander Isak is expected to lead the attack after scoring his first Champions League goal of the season against Fenerbahce. Bradley Barcola and Cody Gakpo are also likely to feature in the forward line for the visitors.

The match at Selhurst Park is scheduled to kick off at 2pm GMT on Sunday, November 8.

The 24-year-old confirmed he was recently hospitalized following an unexpected medical emergency that affected his physical coordination and strength.

New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has revealed he is recovering from a series of unexplained neurological symptoms that required several days of hospitalization. The 24-year-old confirmed his condition in a statement released on Friday.

Henderson, who has been sidelined since being added to the injury report on October 29, stated that while medical tests have returned positive and reassuring results, the underlying cause of the emergency remains unknown.

The running back missed the Patriots' victory over the Miami Dolphins last weekend and has not participated in team practice sessions this week. He is expected to remain unavailable for the upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers.

"Recently, I experienced an unexpected and unusual medical emergency involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms that required hospitalisation for several days," Henderson said. He added that he is working with specialists to address issues regarding his strength and coordination.

The player expressed gratitude for the support received from his family, the Patriots organization, and his medical team. He emphasized that his long-term health and well-being are his primary focus as he undergoes physical therapy.

In six appearances for the Patriots this season, Henderson has recorded 203 rushing yards on 52 carries with one touchdown. He also contributed 45 yards on five receptions before the onset of his illness.

A second-round draft pick in 2025 out of Ohio State, Henderson enjoyed a productive rookie campaign where he played in every regular-season game, totaling 911 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

The Patriots continue their season this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, where they will be without the services of their starting running back as he continues his recovery process.
