NFL to review new allegations against Packers running back Josh Jacobs

The league confirmed it is expanding its ongoing investigation into Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs following the emergence of new abuse claims.

NFL to review new allegations against Packers running back Josh Jacobs

The National Football League confirmed on Saturday that it will examine additional allegations of physical and verbal abuse involving Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs. The development follows a public records release from the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department on Friday night, which detailed accounts from three women who came forward after learning of Jacobs' arrest in May.

"We will review these allegations as part of the investigation which has remained open," the NFL said in a statement. The league had already been conducting an inquiry into the running back following an incident in May 2026, which resulted in his arrest and a subsequent plea of no contest to misdemeanor counts of battery and criminal damage to property.

The newly released 129-page police report includes accounts from three women who alleged abusive behavior by Jacobs in incidents dating back to April 2021. These individuals reportedly contacted authorities after news of the running back's May arrest became public. The documentation also includes body camera and dash camera footage from the time of his apprehension.

In the May incident, a woman alleged that Jacobs grabbed her by the neck in a garage and slammed her to the ground, causing her to lose consciousness. The report noted that the woman described Jacobs as being in an "enraged" state during the altercation.

Attorneys for Jacobs, including David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld, and Clarence F. Duchac III, issued a statement on Saturday regarding the new disclosures. They characterized the allegations as uncorroborated, old, and previously unreported, noting that the Brown County District Attorney's office had already conducted an investigation into the matter.

The legal team stated that the District Attorney had determined only two misdemeanor charges were warranted for the May incident, leading to a plea agreement. They added that Jacobs has expressed remorse and is currently honoring the terms of that agreement.

The Green Bay Packers have not provided a public comment following the release of the police records. The running back recently returned to the field for the team in Week 7 after spending the first six games of the season on the commissioner's exempt list.

The NFL's investigation remains ongoing, and the league is expected to attempt to contact the individuals involved to cooperate with the review. The potential for further disciplinary action remains a significant concern under the league's Personal Conduct Policy, which includes enhanced penalties for repeat offenses.

Jacobs, who joined the Packers this season, recently participated in the team's 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night, during which he scored two touchdowns. The team has not yet indicated how these developments might impact his status moving forward.
